Within a 3.5 - 8 hour drive from Orange County are 9 of California's best whitewater rafting rivers. Disneyland is great—but why not experience nature's own roller-coaster, whitewater rafting, too! Experience places like:
- The Kaweah River near Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park is about a 3.5-hour drive from the LA area.
- Farther north, near Yosemite National Park, raft the designated Wild and Scenic Merced & Tuolumne Rivers, or test your advanced paddling skills on
Class V Cherry Creek (Upper Tuolumne).
- Just outside Sacramento, the South Fork American River is the most popular whitewater river in California. Class III rapids are fun for the whole family and first-time rafters.
- The Middle Fork American River flows through a 2000-foot deep wilderness canyon with lots of
Class IV (Intermediate) rafting and striking scenery.
